Joseph Zinyana – CEO
Joseph is the founder and CEO of New Age Engineering. Joseph is a qualified metallurgist and an International Welding Engineer, he is a WITS graduate with two Masters degrees. Joseph also acquired certificates in Quality Control and is an IPE inspector. Joseph started his career as a high school educator, trained as a Metallurgist at Mintek and advanced to ISCOR Steel. Joseph later worked at Sasol as a Quality Engineer and he progressed to be a Welding Engineer responsible for all Sasol plant welding maintenance activities. Joseph’s business interests began in 2003 with the establishment of New Age Engineering Solutions. Joseph’s business interests extended beyond Sasol to providing specialised welding support in Germany as well as welding in the nuclear space and has worked with some large corporations including Chevron, Eskom, NECSA, Sasol, Natref, Hitachi, Areva, Ponticelli, ENGEN, and Prommac. Joseph was also responsible for the certification and approval of various welding procedures for companies like Steinmuller, Kentz (SNC Lavellin), Trotek, Eskom and many others. Joseph is a board member at South African Institute of Welding.
Suzan Zinyana –Business Dev Director
Suzan Zinyana is a co-founder of New Age Engineering Solutions and the first from the two co-founders to run the business of New Age Engineering Solutions. She started by selling welding consumable at the inception of the company which is now a division of the business of the company. This department at the time, was the cornerstone of the New Age. Suzan and her driver were the first employees and really groomed the business to higher levels. She is currently a Business Development Director. In her role, she oversees Suzan manages the company’s administrative personnel in both the Cape Town and Secunda offices. Marketing Department also reports to her. Suzan is passionate about Social development and all company social development initiatives are run by her. Under her scope of responsibilities, particularly enterprise development, in June 2016 she introduced a youth incubation programme. As a result of this, today New Age boosts itself that we are holding a hand of a company owned by a young South African called Isotec. She has since adopted and supports a woman owned business which manufactures home detergents such as sanitisers, Dishwashing liquid soaps, All-purpose cleaning chemicals, Bleaches etc. Her interests have also developed into the tourism industry and owns several lodging facilities in different geographic areas. Nigel Pontac- Operations Director
Nigel has 20 years industry experience and started his career with I&J Cape Town Trawling company in the engineering and maintenance department. He moved to Eskom and started a career as a Nuclear Operator after completing a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Nigel spent 17 years at Eskom Koeberg Nuclear Power Station where he worked as a manger in various departments. Nigel completed the Nuclear Engineers Programme and was a Principle member of both KOSC and KORC whilst being employed in a senior position of Maintenance Production Manager. Nigel also completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and joined New Age Engineering Solutions in January 2015 where he has worked in Site Manager, Operations Manager and is currently an Operations Director.
Ndwambi Jack Madzivhandila – HR Manager
Jack holds B.Iuris and LLB degrees which he both acquired from the University of the North, now known as the University of Limpopo,Turfloop. Jack is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has practised as such for more than eighteen(18) years. In his position as the managing partner at his law firm(R.S Madzivhandila Attorneys) he acquired skills, knowledge and expertise in business management. As a lawyer, Jack has been trained in the field of dispute resolution, commercial(drafting, contract management and litigation), labour, High Court and Magistrate Court practice. Jack sits as a board member of at least three(3) companies one of which is a non-profit company (NPC). Jack is a commissioner of the Small Claims Court, a duty he executes without salary or any reward of any kind. Jack joined New Age Engineering Solutions and has progressed to become an Operations manager for Secunda operations.
Witness Rikhotso – SHEQ Manager
Witness Rikhotso is a qualified Safety specialist. She holds a BA Degree in Environmental Management, BA Honours Degree in Environmental Management. Samtrac (Safety Management Training Corse) and has done a certificate in Pastel Accounting. Witness has 5 Year experience in Safety. Her experience ranges from NOSA Safety system to Client specifications in a Petrochemical and Power Stations environment. Witness is responsible for the review, development, and implementation and monitoring of the Safety management systems, to ensure the safety of employees, visitors and contractors, in line with current Health and Safety and associated legislation.
Michelle Zinyana – Financial Manager
Michelle Baleseng Zinyana is a recently qualified chartered accountant. Michelle holds a BCom and Honors degree in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. Prior to joining New Age, Michelle completed her Articles at KPMG Cape Town . Her key responsibilities in New Age include the preparation and maintenance of the Companies’ Financial records and overseeing the financial department.
Katlego Mkhwanazi – Marketing Manager
Katlego Mkhwanazi holds a BA Honours Degree in Languages: Journalism and has worked as a journalist for M&G Media & Media 24. She has 7 years experience in producing and managing content for digital and print media. Katlego’s is responsible for developing, recommending and implementing marketing programs for New Age Engineering Solutions and overseeing customer relations for the company.
Willie Van Rhyn – Construction/Site Manager
Willie is a qualified red seal welder and has started his career as an aircraft welder in Pretoria in 1987. He is a qualified international welding specialist and hold SAIW L3 and an international welding specialist certificate. He also hold SAIW level 2 interpreter’s certificate. He has completed a project management diploma at Cambridge. Willie joined Sasol Synfuels in 1993 and became a planner and an estimator for Sasol in 1998. He gained lots of experience (15 years) while working at Retubing workshop where he concentrated on Retubing of coolers and fabricating and refurbishing old and new vessels. Willie joined New Age Engineering Solutions in November 2015 as a site manager. Willie posses a total of 32 years’ welding experience in estimating, fabrication, refurbishment, fault finding and repair procedures by means of outcome of statuary inspections.
Gerry Lourence – Welding Engineer
Gerry started his career as a red seal Plate worker, he joined SASOL as an artisan, and systematically worked himself up to be the welding engineer at SASOL Maintenance. He holds a MSc in welding from WITS and is a certified International Welding Technologist. He was part of the SASOL SP code committee for the welding related specification, thus deepening his understanding of the code and specifications requirements. He gained some international experience while working in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Gerry posses a total of 38 years’ welding experience and 20 years as a welding engineer.
Siphamandla Dlamini – Quantity Surveyor
Began his career as an electrician and instrumentation technician. During his career and interaction with various disciplines he was later exposed to piping and mechanical industry where he worked as a project planner and cost controller. Further to that, he was involved in large scale projects as part of managing team it was therefore fundamentally important that he understood the mechanism behind planning and cost controlling. To further his knowledge he has attended an international recognised cost control professional training and he is currently in the process of being certified . He has done projects in Engen Refinery, SAPREF, Astron Refinery, Transnet, Daimler Chrysler, Toyota SA, Sappi Saiccor, Assmeng Mining, Randwater, Eskom, City Power, Magalies water, uMngeni water, Ethekwini water.
Ian Lawrence – Quality Consultant
Ian has over 40 years of experience in Quality Management including Non Destructive Examination (NDE), Quality Control ( QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) and has worked in the Oil and Gas, Mining and Power Generation and other services industry sectors. He has a Diploma in Quality Management from British Standards Institute (BSI) and is a founding member of the UK Chartered Quality Institute (CQI). He is an internationally certified Lead Auditor by IRCA and SACCQA and has SAIW Level II qualifications in RT, UT, MT and PT NDE techniques. Work assignments have been undertaken in the UK, Iran , Canada, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Germany, France, Japan, Taiwan and Korea. Ian has been assisting New Age Engineering Solutions with Quality Management since 2016, as a Quality System Consultant
Siven Naidoo – Commercial Manager
A highly accomplished Procurement & Contracts Manager that offers over 17 years of track record success managing complex multi-disciplinary projects for various high-profile clients. He is a qualified Piping Designer and holds a registration in Project Management. He demonstrates expertise in creating and executing project plans that exceed customer requirements. He compiles high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed timeline and budgetary targets. He is reputed for effectively applying methodologies that enforce project standards and minimise project risks. He utilises outstanding organizational, planning, and time management skills coupled with the ability to improve efficiency and maximise profits, while minimising project costs. He is skilled in dispute avoidance; negotiations of commercial management of the principal contracts while establishing trust and maintaining a productive working relationships with cross-cultural team members and key partners and alliances.
Victor Somers – Construction Manager
Victor matriculated in Potchefstroom at the HTS. Join Sasol and complete an apprenticeship as fitter and turner. Qualify as welding inspector and worked in the Sasol inspection department and progressed to chief inspector. After 17 years with Sasol join Babcock as QC lead during the construction of Mosgass. Completed more construction projects with Babcock around SA. Join Fabrication Support Services in Secunda as MD and completed numerous projects in and around Sasol and also the mining industry mainly in the refrigeration field at Impala Platinum, Cold fields and Anglo Platinum. Join M&R for a mining material handling project at Sishen as QA/QC. Accepted an offer from CBI and join the team in Peru as QC and later as NDT coordinator for the construction of an LNG train. Join Worlery Parsons in Singapore as Mechanical Superintendent during two chemical plant construction projects for Exon Mobil. Transfer to Iraq in 2010 for the Development of the Rumalia oil field and work as Project delivery manager for ROO BP Iraq. Join New age Engineering Solutions in 2020 as Construction Manager.
Hartmut de Wet – Technical Manager
Hartmut is a qualified European welding engineer (TWI, UK), a qualified international welding engineer (TWI, UK), certified Canadian welding engineer (CWB, Canada), and a qualified metallurgical engineer (BEng & Honours degrees, University of Pretoria). He has thirty one years of experience in weld design, fabrication, maintenance, quality assurance, weldability studies, failure analysis, fracture mechanics, and post-graduate lecturing. Known for the ability to develop best practice solutions in both materials and welding. Worked in areas of manufacturing of machinery, structures, pressure vessels, weld repair and refurbishment of plant equipment, fabrication management, quality management, quality control, research & development, and technology transfer. He worked at Iscor, Techfab, CSIR, SAIW, PBMR, Wits University, consulted to numerous companies in SA, and finally joined NAES.
Earl Phillips– Project Manager
Earl is a qualified mechanical Engineer. He holds a BSc. Hons in Metallurgy, B-Tech in Project Management and an IWT in Welding. He started his career in 2007 at a Nuclear Power plant and joined New Age in 2014 where he was exposed to the Oil and Gas plants with Sasol and ASTRON. He is also practicing as a Welding Engineer. His role include Managing and directing project developments from inception to completion at various sites, both Nuclear (KNPS) and Petrochemical (Chevron & Sasol). Estimation of resources and participants needed to achieve goals i.e. planning, execution and close out of Rhin projects
Avron Solomon – Project Manager
Avron has 30 years Nuclear experience and started his career at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station as an Electrician (Red Seal Trade Tested). He has extensive Work Management experience and worked as an Outage Project leader and Online Work Week Manager. At his time at Work Control he Chaired the Online Production meeting and managed the Online Plans across all units. Avron joined New Age Engineering Solution in January 2016 as a Project Manager in Mechanical Maintenance Department. His primary function is the management of all Mechanical Online routine maintenance, major component Outages and defined scopes in Refuelling Outages.
Jacques Wagner – Project Manager
Jacques has over 32 years of Senior Project and Operational Management related experience in green and brown fields projects, plant maintenance, turnarounds and large construction projects. He worked for Fluor, Babcock, Aveng, Techserve, Multotech, Group Five and Murray & Roberts. He worked on different international projects in Asia and Africa. Jacques gained his experience in Petroleum -Oil & Gas, Chemical Mining, Sugar Refinery, Paper Plant and Nuclear. He managed a client portfolio of Sapref, Engen, Chevron, Astron, Anglo , Rio Tinto, Sappi,Beyers, Hullets, Koeberg and others, He has international (Aus, Chilli, Canada and USA ) manufacturing mining experience on a global level, as a senior member of the MPE GM team. Jacques is a Professional Registered Project Manager and an active member of PMSA since 1996.He holds a MSc PM(UK), MBA(Mini-UK), BM NQF6 (GMIT),Dip MEng and various other industry related qualifications. He was part of Chevron South Africa IIF leadership team as Chairman and the CHESM chairperson for 4 years. He serves voluntarily as a Financial Director on the GBHO board. He was the owner of PPI, a plastic manufacturing company with clients like UVEX Safety, Checkers and City of Cape Town. He also spent time in Ghana at TOR Refinery. Advisory support for WeldCon in Kenya for Shell tanks and advised the Nigeria government officials on Refinery maintenance and optimization in TA’s (turnarounds) and Reliability and Maintenance. He is a motivational speaker for young adults and rehabilitation advisor. Received special award from President Nelson Mandela for his contribution towards Aids and the Poetry Institute of Africa
