New Age was honoured to receive special recognition from the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) and the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA) for the initiatives we are driving in youth training and skills development in South Africa. This recognition motivates us to continue making a meaningful impact by equipping young people with the skills they need to succeed in a country where unemployment remains a significant challenge. To the interns/trainees who are part of our programmes: thank you for inspiring us with your determination and passion. This recognition belongs to all of us!

Hands-On Training for Real-World Experience

Over the years, we have recruited graduates from universities and trade schools for our internship and traineeship programmes. Through the internship programme, the graduates were placed in various departments across our organisation, including Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Logistics, Project Management, Quality Control, Marketing, Project management and Safety.

While the internship programme equips graduates with corporate skills, our traineeship programme focuses on hands-on training in trades such as welding, pipefitting, boilermaking and mechanical fitting, to name just a few. Furthermore, our training initiatives also provide interns with opportunities to build practical skills and bridge gaps in workplace readiness. Through hands-on experience, trainees gain access to prominent sites such as the Eskom Koeberg Nuclear Plant, Sasol (Sasolburg) and Sasol Synfuels (Secunda), working closely under the guidance of our experienced mentors.

Our current programmes have been made possible through strong collaboration with the following stakeholders: The Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA), the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA), the Manufacturing Engineering and Related Services SETA (MERSETA), and the National Skills Fund (NSF).

A Bright Future Ahead

As we celebrate this achievement, we also aim to expand our reach and impact and train more youth. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances and we are proud to play a role in making this a reality.
“Over the years, we have increased our graduate intake because more young people are left without jobs every year. New Age has a duty to expose graduates to the workplace environment,” says Joseph Zinyana, CEO of New Age Engineering Solutions.
We will continue to create programmes that uplift the youth and empower them to build successful careers.
