Rigger

New Age Engineering Solutions is a project management, professional welding and mechanical service provider to the South African mechanical industry through highly qualified and skilled team members. New Age seeks to employ a Rigger to join the team.

 

 

  • Ref: Rig 001
  • Location: Cape Town 
  • Contract Duration: Approximately three weeks (Regen period)

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and Perform rigging and lifting operations as required. 
  • Plan for jobs, ensuring availability of spares, consumables, labour, and tools in order to carry out the required tasks. 
  • Provide feedback to the foreman and co-workers regarding equipment performance and condition.
  • Ensure conditions are within the operation limits of the task that must be performed. 
  • Ensure that Safety, Health, and Environment targets are achieved. 
  • Use correct equipment/tools for the tasks undertaken. 
  • Perform daily inspections on work areas and tools and equipment to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure that high housekeeping standards are applied. 

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Matric Certificate
  • Relevant qualifications in the construction industry
  • At least 3 years of work experience
  • Trade Test/Cat 5 in relevant field
  • Knowledge of ISO18001 and 14001
  • Sound knowledge of project and shutdown duties
  • Sound knowledge of company Safety, Health, and Environmental policies, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Good Communication skills (Written and Verbal)

Mechanical Fitter 

 

  • Ref: MECH 002
  • Location: Cape Town 
  • Contract Duration: Approximately three weeks (Regen period)

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and breakdown fault finding, diagnostic testing and related tasks.
  • Perform mechanical repairs, manufacture components and other duties.
  • Perform all repairs using recognised industry engineering best practices or approved methods.
  • Perform general fitting, including but not limited to gear reduction units, fluid couplings and power transmission devices, boiler feed and other pumps. 
  • Ability to inspect, analyse and record critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment.
  • Repairing equipment and supervising assistants and learners when applicable. 
  • Consider and report on spare parts and time needed to complete the job.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Trade Test/ Cat 5 in relevant field 
  • At least 3 years ‘experience
  • Display a good understanding of equipment & tools and their uses thereof
  • Good knowledge of the trade and legislations governing the industry
  • Knowledge of the equipment type and the duty it must perform
  • Good communication skills
  • Advanced drawing interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Critical judgement skills
  • Fault-finding skills
  • Experience working at Astron Energy refinery is preferred
