Mechanical Technician

- Location: Cape Town (Koeberg Nuclear Power Station)
- Contract Duration: 8 Months
Responsibilities
- Provide support to operations in running plant and other equipment to maximise efficiency and productivity.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems by utilising standardised problem-solving techniques, verifying that proper investigative actions are completed to identify the root cause quickly.
- Completing maintenance requests per the notification system (SAP), initiating and assisting in equipment repair as needed.
- Report incidents, accidents, near misses and hazards to the relevant department and follow up.
- Participate in incident and accident investigation processes.
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding processes to identify and rectify issues and faults.
- Ensure work outputs meet quality standards.
- Eliminate the root causes of fault finding for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 2 Years’ experience in a similar role preferably nuclear environment.
- Working knowledge of the SAP System.

Welder cat1

- Contract Duration: 10 February 2025 – 12 June 2025
Responsibilities
- Carries out welding maintenance and repair actions using applicable work packages.
- Perform welding of stainless steels using MIG, SMAW and GTAW processes.
- Assist the welding engineer in qualifying for the new WPS.
- Perform welding of thin, stainless steel bore piping.
- Perform welding and repairs to aluminium materials and components.
- Perform specialised MIG welding.
- In-situ welding problem-solving and identifying discrepancies in work packages.
- Transfer skills through on-the-job training and coaching of apprentices.
- Take out a permit to work and perform the duties of a responsible person in terms of Plant Safety Regulation.
Qualifications
- Five years’ experience in welding high-pressure equipment and piping(stainless steels, carbon steels and aluminium).
- Trade Test/ CAT 1 in relevant field.
- Knowledge of the equipment type and the duty it must perform.
- Fault finding skills.
- Good communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Carries out maintenance pipefitting activities.
- Carries out equipment serving actions.
- Ensures on-the-job personal safety.
- Transfer skills by on-the-job training and coaching of an apprentice.
- Execute work as per applicable isometric drawings, flow diagrams and interpretations of welding symbols.
- Take out a permit to work and perform the duties of a responsible person in terms of plant safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Recognised apprenticeship & possession of trade certificate.
- Five years’ experience in the fabrication of high-pressure components.
- Physically fit for work purposes relating to this role.
- Good communication skills.
- Be able to read and understand ISO drawings and welding symbols.

Responsibilities
- Read and understand drawings and symbols.
- Fabricate, develop and fil components.
- Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
- Lay out full-scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.
- Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
- Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
Qualifications
- Recognised apprenticeship & possession of trade certificate.
- Five years’ experience in the fabrication of high-pressure components.
- Have an impeccable attention to detail.
- Able to work unsupervised and/or as part of a team.
- Reliable and have a sound work ethic.
