In 2023, we welcomed our new interns into a new three-year programme aimed at upskilling unemployed youth. This programme, initiated by New Age Engineering Solutions (New Age) in collaboration with Energy & Water SETA (EWSETA) and SASOL, aims to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment in South Africa while promoting skills development.
Each year, 100 aspiring professionals will be trained across various fields, including:

- Quantity Surveying
- Finance
- Human Resources

The workplace experience will span a year and involve placements in various NAES facilities in the Western Cape, Free State, and Mpumalanga. The programme also highlights the importance of aligning business practices with ethical and sustainable values, as it not only benefits the individuals involved but also contributes to the broader community and workforce development.
Joseph Zinyana, CEO of New Age, encourages the youth participants to seize this training opportunity. “This initiative serves as a positive example of businesses coming together to provide opportunities for young people,” says Zinyana.
Zinyana sends his well-wishes to the interns, expressing hope for their successful future filled with abundant knowledge.
